To provide counseling and educational programs through the use of HORSES to both individuals and groups.  Our organization specializes in addiction recovery and prevention with an emphasis on the impact of trauma, the neuroscience of human/horse brain development and the role relationship plays in the recovery and healing of individuals.  We empower the broken hearted with choices that will put them on the courageous path of rebuilding their lives and living and loving from a place of wholeheartedness.  It is our belief that we are all hardwired for connection, and it is only through presenting our authentic, imperfect selves to the world that we are able to come truly alive, genuinely connect and then go on to live from a place of purpose.
Eligibility:  High school age and higher; the client(s) will be seen as often as deemed appropriate.

GRIEF SHARE – GRIEF RECOVERY SUPPORT GROUPS – KERRVILLE
To provide support to grieving individuals who have lost a spouse, child, family member, or friend during this confusing time when they feel isolated and have many questions about things they’ve never faced.  Grief Share groups meet weekly to help individuals face these challenges and move toward rebuilding their lives.  Each Grief Share group session has three distinct elements: (1) Video seminar with experts, (2) Support group discussion with focus, and (3) Personal study and reflection.  The following list of churches have had Grief Share groups.  Please call for information on groups currently meeting or groups planning future meetings.

To provide mental health services delivered through a Disease Management Model:  Treatment of major depression, bipolar and/or schizophrenia disorders that focuses on an individual’s outcomes, selected services, tools, and strengths in order for them to recover.  Outpatient drug and alcohol counseling is offered.

KIDS ADVOCACY PLACE—HILL COUNTRY CRISIS COUNCIL, INC.
To provide a safe place for children of reported abuse by supporting them through the investigative process, partnering with local professional agencies and educating the community on child abuse issues.  Services include trauma-focused counseling.

K’STAR, INC. (FAMILY & YOUTH SERVICES (FAYS) & EMERGENCY SHELTER FOR DISPLACED YOUTH)     

K’STAR, Inc. Counseling Center—Haley Salazar, Program Director. 830-896-5404
To provide free services to youth & parents who are experiencing difficult living situations or problems with truancy & are a school dropout risk.  Through counseling, compassion, & parenting skills training, we enable families t grow closer & learn to effectively resolve conflict.  K’STAR focuses on Trauma Informed Care, CBT and evidence-based curriculum.  As a nonprofit organization, K’STAR, Inc. receives funding from the Texas Department of Family & Protective Services via the state runaway program & Child Protective Services, private grants, foundations, federal funds, budgets & fundraisers through Kerrville, Texas.

K’STAR Emergency Shelter provides nurture & support for displaced children.  Through the practice of Trauma-Informed Care, we start the process of healing the abuse, neglect & trauma suffered in the child’s early years.  Our home can house up to 20 youngsters ages birth to 17.  Children are placed with us through the Texas Department of Protective Services, Family Tapestry, 2Ingage, and Saint Francis Ministries.  We have done our job when the children are sad to leave K’STAR.
Eligibility:  Counseling:  Family must have a youth ages birth to 17 years old with the exception of 18 only if still in high school when 18.  Shelter:  Children birth to 17 years of age.
Children are placed with us through the Texas Department of Protective Services, Family Tapestry, 2Ingage, & Saint Francis Ministries.

MERCY GATE MINISTRIES (501c3)

Mercy Gate Ministries is a direct service provider who offers residential (The Haven) and nonresidential programs for women 18 years and older who are victims of sex trafficking, sexual exploitation, and sexual trauma.

The Journey Program is the 12+ month, faith-based restoration program of Mercy Gate Ministries. Our team meets participants right where they are and creates an individual treatment plan designed to fulfill her specific spiritual, emotional, psychological, medical, and life-skill needs.

ARC (Advocacy Resource Center) is an advocacy program of Mercy Gate Ministries to help survivors discover any and all resources available to them on their road to recovery and, ultimately, reintegration into society. CAAVA's (Court Appointed Adult Victim Advocates) work closely with victims/defendants, guiding them through individualized court-ordered requirements for rehabilitation, court hearings, counseling, group sessions, and self-development goals. CAAVA's also support and empower victims/defendants and their families throughout the legal process of seeking restitution, prosecution of their traffickers, and family reunification.

NEW HOPE COUNSELING SERVICES (HILL COUNTRY CHRISTIAN COUNSELING CENTER, INC.)
To promote hope and mental health in everyday life for All across the family life cycle, from age 4, regardless of age, gender, religion, socio-economic status, or ethnicity.  Providing professional outpatient mental and behavioral healthcare, New Hope services include choice of in-person or virtual sessions with a male or female counselor for both English and Spanish speakers. New Hope does NOT provide a psychologist or psychiatrist and cannot prescribe medications.  New Hope is state approved to provide the Batters Intervention and Prevention Program (BIPP); classes weekly; call for cost and availability (830-257-3009).
Eligibility Criteria:  All are welcome.  Submit intake packet online at www.newhopecounselingtx.org; choose English or Spanish; adult or child intakes.  Clients receive ongoing services as determined during first appointment with the counselor—usually weekly.  The cost of each session is determined by financial documentation and family size on a sliding scale fee for those at or below the 200% Federal Poverty guidelines.  Most insurances accepted, including Medicare and Medicaid.

Peterson Health provides a range of support group services including for bariatric patients, breastfeeding, caregivers, children grief support, adult grief support, ostomy patients, Parkinson's patients, and stroke patients.
